Da Nuru Sherpa

Da Nuru Sherpa was born in 1978 in Phortse village. Coming from a family of Climbing Sherpas, it was no surprise to anyone when, at age 14, Da Nuru literally followed in their footsteps. In 2002, he was married to Pa Lhamu Sherpa. They have two daughters and one younger Son – Dawa Zangmu Sherpa and Mingma Yangzee Sherpa and Tshering John Sherpa (Son). In addition to Da Nuru’s work in mountaineering, he and his wife run a family business as owners of the Chola View Lodge in the village of Nala.

 Da Nuru completed several mountain climbing courses through national and international institutions. Including 17* Everest Summiters he has also climbed Cholats, Island, Mera, Ama Dablam, Lobuje, Baruntse, and Pharchamo peaks numerous times.

  • 1997 Climbed Mt. Everest with a Japanese expedition.
  • 1998 Summited Mt. Everest from the north side. The team was Mr. Dave Hahn and the Sirdar was Mr. Panuru Sherpa (Da Nuru’s older brother as well as Director of Xtreme Climbers Treks and Expedition).
  • 2000 Everest summit from the south side with a Korean expedition group Again, his brother Panuru Sherpa was the sirdar for the expedition.
  • 2001 Everest summit from the north side with an American expedition group. The sirdar was Panuru Sherpa.
  • 2002 Summited Mt. Everest from the south side.
  • 2003 Summited Mt. Everest from the north side.
  • 2004 Da Nuru repeated his climbing feat of 2003.
  • 2005 Achieved a summit of Mt. Everest, climbing from the south side.
  • 2006 Twice this year, Da Nuru summited Mt. Everest. Both climbs were from the south side.
  • 2007 In each of the years from 2007– 2011, Da Nuru summited Mt. Everest.
  • 2012 Summited Everest from the south side.
  • 2012 Each year between 2000 and 2012, Da Nuru summited Mt. Cho-Oyu from the Tibet side.
  • 2013 Summited Mt. Everest with expedition climber Umesh Zirpe Mallikarjun of India.
  • 2018 Everest Expedition (North) Climbed with private clients from the USA and had to return from 8700m due to a problem with the Oxygen Mask Regulator.

Message to the Youth

Mountaineering is a journey that involves risk at every step. Whether climbing a small peak or a towering mountain, it is vital to proceed with caution, proper training, and guidance from experienced climbers. Always prioritize your health, as it is the cornerstone of success. Education and preparation play a crucial role in achieving your goals in mountaineering and beyond. Remember, Health is Wealth.
